Abstract

The food sovereignty of a people is closely linked with the quality of their seeds, which includes
local seeds. To enable and encourage the cultivation of Creole seeds, it is extremely important
to carry out agronomic tests with agro-ecological farmers. In this way, the objective of
the present work was to evaluate the viability of beans creole seeds through germination and
vigor experiments. Five varieties of Creole beans obtained from the “Mother Earth” seed house
were submitted to the following experiments: germination, seedling root length (SRL), dry mass
and vigor. The largest SRLs are in the Pink and Black varieties. For the dry mass variable, the
Green variety had the highest value. The varieties Amethyst and Black obtained better results
for the rate of germination (ROG). According to the results found the variety Black presented
itself as the most vigorous.
