This paper was performed with the objective of evaluating the efficiency of different dosages
of alcoholic extract of vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides) on cabbage aphid (Brevicoryne
brassicae) repellency. This aphid is an important pest in the cultivation of brassicas, among
them the cabbage (Brassica oleracea, variety Acephala), being the great cause of production
losses, difficult to handle and fast proliferation. Six treatments and one additional treatment
were used in the experiment, with the dosages 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% (m/v), for the control
it was used ethyl alcohol 92.6% and the additional treatment was distilled water. There was a
5% probability difference between the evaluated dosages of the alcoholic extract, and the estimated
dosage (DE) where the highest level of repellency of the cabbage plants was reached
was 2.59% (m/v).
