Abstract

This report is the synthesis of the experiences of implantation and management of agroforestry system at the Federal University of Uberlândia. The implantation was carried out by the Agroecological Nucleus of Savannah The region MInas Gerais (NACEM), which is a group of this institution. Large monocultures predominate in the region and there are practically no experiments with agroecological production systems. The objective of NACEM was to develop an agroecological system appropriate to local conditions, with species of economic importance already cultivated regionally. The implantation occurred in November 2017 and since then the area has been managed. The system is consolidated with species from different strata and life cycles. In the first year the harvest of fruits of annual cycle began and afterwards a second cycle, like papaya and banana. Some learning led to adjustments of the initial sketch, and currently the area is a regional reference in the dissemination of agroecology, fulfilling functions of teaching, research and rural extension.
