Abstract

The performance of Roquesso tomato seedlings on different organic substrates was evaluated.
The experiment was conducted in Santa Teresa - ES. It was conducted with 6 treatments and
one of them received only the commercial substrate, in the others, the use of two parts of earthenware
plus one part of crushed fern was standardized, having as complement: bovine manure;
earthworm humus; organic compost; woodland and wood ash. Root, shoot and total dry
mass, Dickson’s Quality Index, plant height, root base diameter, number of leaves and root length
were evaluated. The use of organic compost, earthworm humus, bovine manure and woodland
as substrates complements consisting of 50% of earthenware and 25% of crushed fern
presents efficiency in the production of Roquesso tomato seedlings. Therefore, the substrate
with ash was less effective than the commercial and the substrate enriched with humus.
