Representing UFMS in Latin American Congresses: promoting native fruits from Mato Grosso do Sul

Abstract

Students from Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS, Biological Sciences) participated in two international events in the second half of 2024, presenting the workshop "Native Fruits: Knowledge and Flavors of the Cerrado, Chaco, and Pantanal for a Transformative Education" linked to the Extension Project Valorization of Food Plants of the Pantanal and Cerrado. The experience aimed to disseminate knowledge about native fruits and highlight their educational and agroecological value. Participation in both events provided cultural interactions, academic development, and exchange of sustainable practices. This report describes our involvement in international activities and the prospects for expanding the project in Brazil.

Rosani do Carmo de Oliveira Arruda, Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul

Tenho graduação Ciências Biológicas (UFRJ), mestrado pelo Museu Nacional (UFRJ), e doutorado em Botânica pela USP/São Paulo. Sou professora da UFMS onde atuo no ensino de graduação, pós-graduação,e em projetos de pesquisa e extensão. Integro o corpo de docentes permanentes do PPG em Biologia Vegetal (Campus Campo Grande) e do PPG Estudos Fronteiriços (CPAN). Tenho experiência em Anatomia Vegetal, coordenando projetos de pesquisa com plantas do Pantanal, Cerrado e Chaco. Também participo de projetos aplicados a plantas nativas ou cultivadas, medicinais e alimentícias. Sou membro associada da Sociedade Botânica do Brasil. Atuo c,omo revisora voluntária de artigos em revistas científicas nacionais e internacionais, e em corpo editorial.
