Potential Of Agroforestry Systems in Ecological Restoration: A Path to Productive Restoration in Indigenous Lands
Keywords:
Agroforestry systems, ecological restoration, indigenous peoples.Abstract
Mato Grosso do Sul has a rich diversity of culture and biodiversity, with three important biomes that play fundamental role in protecting and maintaining ecosystems. It is also one of the states with the largest number of indigenous peoples, second only to Amazonas and Bahia. The aim of this study was to evaluate three aspects related to agroforestry systems and the bottlenecks to the use of this technique. An Agroforestry System was set up with 101 individuals, of 26 different species with a spacing of 3x5, in the Bororó village, Dourados/MS Indigenous Reserve. The results of this work show that the agroforestry system has great potential to gain adherence in ecological restoration, but it is essential to discuss strategies to subsidize this technique, thus making costs cheaper. The species implanted showed a value considered significant for planting seedlings, which was almost 90% survival in the 120-day period.
