The objective was to evaluate the emergence of tomato seedlings (Roquesso cultivar) sown
on different types of organic substrates. The experiment was conducted in Santa Teresa - ES.
The experimental design was a completely randomized block with 6 treatments and 4 replicates.
One of the treatments received only the commercial agricultural substratum. In the others,
the use of two parts of ravine land plus one part of crushed fern was standardized, varying the
sources of nutrients: bovine manure tanned; humus; organic compost; woodland and wood
ash. The percentage of germination and the Index of Emergency Speed were evaluated. There
was no significant difference between treatments. The use of substrates with two parts of
ravine land plus a part of fern plus materials such as cattle manure, humus, organic compost,
woodland and wood ash does not affect the germination of Roquesso tomato seeds.
