This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of applying biofertilizer in improving the chemical properties of a low-fertility sandy soil located in the Cabeceira do Iguatemi Settlement and its impact on watermelon cultivation. Soil samples were collected before and after cultivation, and analyses revealed a significant increase in phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg) levels, as well as in base saturation (V%), organic matter (OM), and water holding capacity. Weekly applications of biofertilizer, at a dose of 2 liters per pit, were conducted to increase the availability of nutrients for watermelon plants. The results indicate that the use of biofertilizers promotes soil fertility recovery and contributes to increased watermelon productivity. This sustainable agricultural practice is especially recommended for low-fertility soils, such as those found in the Cabeceira do Iguatemi Settlement, demonstrating the potential of biofertilizers in organic farming.
