Abstract

The paineira has distribution in the great majority of Brazil, being a tolerant species to the
watering that appears frequently in ciliary areas, being recommended in the recovery of degraded
areas. However, precise information on procedures for native seedling production is very
scarce, existing mainly for those with the greatest economic interest. The objective of this work
was to evaluate the initial development of seedlings in different substrates. Three substrate
combinations were used: [T1] 50% latosol + 50% aviary bed; [T2] 100% aviary bed; [T3] 50%
latosol + 50% sand. The analyzed variables were: collection diameter, shoot length, leaf number,
percentage and root dry mass, and Dickson Quality Index. The use of treatments T1 and
T3 provide a greater increment of the collection of seedlings of paineira.
