Abstract

The agroecological transition that has been discussed since 1972, requires the articulation of the (r) evolution of humanity, from this demand the alternative models of agriculture are strengthened, such as Sustainable Agriculture, which has several aspects, among them one that has been gaining great popularity, are the agroforestry systems (SAF's). With the increase in the search for alternative production models, it is necessary to monitor these agricultural activities, both in terms of environmental effects and socioeconomic aspects. The MESMI methodology (Framework for Estimating Natural Resource Management Systems Incorporating Sustainability Indicators) is a tool that allows the safe assessment of the sustainability of agroecosystems. That is why it was chosen to fulfill the objective of this work, which is to evaluate a SAF in a qualitative way in the Campo Verde settlement in Terenos-MS, which seeks to be a model for other systems in the region. The evaluation showed that it has great environmental potential, but with difficulties to be overcome in the social and economic sphere, so it needs to optimize activities in these areas, such as organizing collaborative fairs, encouraging and strengthening collective work among farmers and optimizing infrastructure.
