Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of agroforestry systems in the capital market through the commercialization of carbon credits. To achieve this, a field survey was conducted, during which data were collected on-site to measure carbon sequestration in biodiverse agroforestry systems located in a settlement in Bonito. The carbon pricing was estimated based on the years 2017 and 2024 as parameters. The data obtained indicated that agroforestry systems have the potential to generate income for rural producers if carbon credits are commercialized. Thus, the greater the species diversity, the higher the potential financial return.
