Abstract

Moringa oleifera, a plant of Indian origin, is cultivated around the world in tropical and subtropical regions. The leaves, seeds and pods of this plant are nutritious containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of different moringa extracts in controlling epidermal fungi in cattle. Three types of extracts were prepared (aqueous, oily and ethanolic). Fungal samples were collected, cultivated in appropriate medium and exposed to the three types of extract in culture plates. The results indicate that the aqueous extract of Moringa oleifera had considerable potential as a natural alternative for the control of epidermal fungi in cattle.
