In this report, we will address a crucial topic for peasant peoples: the importance of knowledge exchange experiences among members of the local community for the development of an agrarian reform settlement in a sustainable way. The different means of agricultural production in the Geraldo Garcia settlement, located in Sidrolândia, Mato Grosso do Sul, have brought great results in the intrinsic relationship between survival spaces and means of social coexistence, with the exchange of experiences between farmers in agroecological practices as an asset of these relationships. This promotes a collaborative environment that values shared knowledge and mutual learning, using popular education as a method for the dialogue of knowledge, enriching local knowledge and strengthening community ties. The report was constructed based on the authors' experience with the experiences of knowledge exchange based on agroecology, carried out mainly since 2021 in the Geraldo Garcia settlement, involving the school and the training and research center of the settlement. Knowledge is shared through conversation circles, social visits to properties, both collectively and individually, tereré circles, courses and local lectures, in partnerships with universities, associations, rural workers and social entities. The main results are evidence of how education and agroecology help communities develop skills to produce food in a self-sustainable way, promoting food sovereignty, based on production systems that value diversity and resilience.
