Abstract

The main objective of training young agents active in rural communities who can see reality and create strategies and actions to overcome challenges towards the desired development was what motivated the creation of the training course that later received the name “Rural Community Development Agents - ADCR”. The importance of the course was discussed during the Seminar: “The challenges of succession in Family Farming”, which started the training course in August 2023. Held at the CETAF - Training Center for Family Farming facilities in Glória de Dourados, it was coordinated by APOMS - Association of Organic Producers of Mato Grosso do Sul and had several other partnerships for its feasibility, such as UFGD - Federal University of Grande Dourados, which certified the participants as a University Extension course, the Rabobank Foundation, Cresol Centro Sul RS/MS and SEMADESC, which jointly sponsored the financial support for the course, and the following mobilizing and supporting partner entities: CPT - Pastoral Land Commission, MMC - Peasant Women's Movement, EFAR - Rosalvo da Rocha Rodrigues Agricultural Family School, EFAITAQUI - Itaquiraí Agricultural Family School and FAIND - Indigenous Intercultural Faculty - UFGD. The course received 25 participants from 12 municipalities in the state, originating from rural communities, agrarian reform settlements and indigenous communities. The female audience was the majority with 73% of the participants and after the 6 stages of 54 hours, certification was carried out with 24 graduates.
