The ethnobotanical knowledge of medicinal plants is important in the production of an ecological
base, especially in the first periods of the agroecological transition where the system is
unstable and plants are more susceptible to insect attack and disease. The objective of this
study was to verify if the family farmers belonging to the Núcleo Regional Luta Camponesa
da Rede Ecovida de Agroecologia know and use medicinal plants in agricultural production,
identify the plants and verify the plants and verify how they learned. The data were obtained
through semi-structured interviews, ethnobotany walk and participant observation. It was verified
tht medicinal plants are used as local inputs for agricultural production, were mentioned
15 plants act as inseticides in their majority, but also fungicides and biofertilizers. These plants
help in the process of agroecological transition and contribute to reducing production costs.
