Abstract

We are at a time in history where we are deeply concerned about the future, as we are experiencing a climate emergency, with extreme droughts, devastating floods, and unprecedented heat waves, combined with uncontrolled fires, which are some of the undesirable consequences of a development model that seeks profit, to the detriment of the rights of the population and well-being. During Agroecol 2024, proposals were developed based on lectures, debates, presentations of technical-scientific papers, reports of experiences, workshops, dialogue circles, among others, which were systematized and presented at the end of the event for new contributions and validation by the plenary, with the aim of serving as a document for management aimed at strengthening agroecology and sustainable development, which are listed below: 1) Strengthening agroecology in family farming, indigenous peoples, traditional communities, urban and peri-urban agriculture; 2) Strengthening diversified production, short marketing circuits and sustainable local and territorial development; 3) Training processes in biodiverse agroecosystems, resilient, on agroecological bases; 4) Strengthening public research, construction of sociotechnical systems for the production and communication of agroecological knowledge; 5) Qualified technical assistance in quantities adequate to the needs of farmers; 6) Credit consistent with biodiverse systems on an agroecological basis, unbureaucratic and flexible; 7) Recognition and payments for environmental and socioeconomic services; 8) Machinery and equipment to optimize work in biodiverse systems on an agroecological basis; and 9) Strengthening the consumption of products from biodiverse systems on an agroecological basis.
