Morphological indicators on the development of arugula seedlings on substrates based on organic residues
Keywords:
Eruca sativa, soybean residue, rice strawAbstract
The objective of this work was to evaluate, through the morphological indicators, arugula seedlings
produced in different substrates based on organic residues. The experiment was conducted
at UFRA, Paragominas Campus. The statistical design was completely randomized,
with four treatments and five replicates. The treatments were four substrates: soybean residue,
rice straw, commercial substrate and mixture: soybean residue (40%) + rice straw (30%) +
commercial substrate (30%). The height, diameter of the lap, number of leaves, fresh and dry
mass of shoots and roots were evaluated. Dickson Quality Index, dry matter ratio of shoot with
dry matter of roots and ratio of shoot height to shoot diameter. All the data obtained were statistically
analyzed through analysis of variance and the means were compared by the Tukey
test. It was concluded that the substrate mix: soybean residue (40%) + rice straw (30%) + commercial
substrate (30%) presented the best result for the production of arugula seedlings. The
commercial substrate had better Dickson Quality Index for the production of rocket seedlings.
