The objective of this study was to characterize the floristic composition of the area of natural
occurrence of Mirim allowing to increase the knowledge about the of management and possibility
use of the species. The phytosociological parameters were evaluated: total density, density,
frequency, dominance, absolute and relative, basal area, value of importance, coverage value
and shannon index. A total of 320 individuals were sampled, with 8 families and 10 species in
the adult stratum and 8 families and 13 species in the regenerating stratum. The highest value
of importance of Humiria balsamifera was found in the adult stratum 64.46% and in the stratum
regenerant 14.39%. The species stood out in the adult stratum for all the evaluated parameters.
Lower occurrence in the regenerating stratum is probably due to the difficulty of its seeds
germinating and the occurrence of burning. The species presents potential for the composition
of agroforestry systems in the region.
