Agroecological experience within IFSULDEMINAS - Campus Inconfidentes

Abstract

With the offer of the agronomic engineering course since 2011, Instituto Federal de Educação
Ciência e Tecnologia do Sul de Minas Gerais - Campus Inconfidentes, brings a new proposal
in the training of agrarian professionals. Offering materials that allow students to get in touch
with social issues and agroecology. Through participation in events and the accomplishment of
internship in the sector of agroecology of the Campus it was possible to experience and practice
agroecological agriculture. During this time three activities were highlighted in the experiment:
the adaptation test performed with 15 genotypes of common bean, the planting of peas
and the beginning of the construction of an ecological house. The ‘Pintadinho’ variety showed
the greatest adaptability to the agroecological system of cultivation in the South of Minas region.
Already activities carried out during the internship are a complement to the personal and
professional formation, as well as offering the possibility of practical experience, and closer
contact and direct dialogue with organic/agroecological farmers.
