Levels of agroecological transition of rural properties with focus on dairy farming in the city of Resende-RJ

Abstract

The family farm production in Resende-RJ is predominantly dairy farming, the objective of this
work was to understand sustainability in the management of properties and to indicate the level
of agroecological transition. The study was carried out in the Pedra-Preta community, located
in a hydrographic basin the same county. Using an evaluation method based on numerical
index, the properties were classified according to the level of agroecological transition in: very
low, low, regular, high and very high. Taking into account three dimensions: environmental, social
and economic. Twenty-six properties were evaluated, none of which presented a very low
transition level. In the environmental bias, 1 property was classified with low level, 10 regular
and 15 with high level of agroecological transition, in social were 11 regular, 11 high and 4 very
high and in economic evaluation were 3 low, 14 regular and 9 high level of Transition.
