Abstract

The study of teaching, research and extension activities related to the subjects of Permaculture
and Agroforestry Systems at the Federal University of Goias-Jataí aimed to identify and
understand the dynamics that resulted in the agroecological transition through direct questionnaires
and Participatory Action Research in the Santa Rita Settlement and in the area of
CIAGRO (Integrated Center of Agroecology) of UFG-Jataí. The chosen methodology implied
in the collective construction of the knowledge between university students and settlers, but
showed different results between the two groups. Among the settlers, women became interested
in the subject of beekeeping and empowered from it. The majority of the students started
the agroecological transition from the work with Syntrophic Agroforestry Systems (SAF-syntropics).
Some of them have become producers and teachers of SAF-syntropics. The data shows
aesthetic issues as a point of convergence between the two groups.
