SAFBD – the agroforestry knowledge at your reach, the consortium parameters database for Agroforestry Systems

Abstract

The existing experiments used for implantation of Agroforestry Systems are not always adequate
to the edaphoclimatic conditions, the farmer’s vocation and even the local demands for
the production flow, and he is dependent on his own experiences and from other people, with
great loss of time, information and money in the process. In this context, this work aims the
development of a Web-Based System (SAFBD) to organize the information in Agroforestry,
starting from the Syntropic SAFs, based on Computing Best Practices. This should include:
information on plants used in Agroforestry Systems, validated experiments and tools that facilitate
the rational composition of new experiments, educational material about the practice,
contacts of people and institutions, bibliographic references, georeferencing, among others. It
should be safe, easy to maintain, with good navigability (easy access) and advanced search,
and free access to farmers and public research and educational institutions.
