Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most cultivated and consumed food in the world and suffers
great interference from spontaneous plants, so it becomes necessary to know the species that
most affect the culture. The objective of this work was to survey and identify the species of the
spontaneous community of the seed bank in the rice crop. The work was carried out in a rural
area of Viana - MA, in the vegetative and reproductive phases of the rice, where soil samples
weighing 1 kg were collected, placed in trays, identified and placed under greenhouse conditions
of daily watering, with evaluations performed from fifteen to ninety days after implantation.
The seedlings were removed, counted and identified with subsequent soil rotation to stimulate
new emergence flows. Lindernia crustacea and Cyperus spp. presented higher numbers of
individuals and were more important in the vegetative and reproductive phases of the culture.
