system was developed on the property of a family farmer, with the production of watermelons
using pisciculture water and water supply (dam) in irrigation, with the objective of encouraging
the use of agroecological techniques in the production of the farmer, with a transition from the
conventional to the agroecological system, in addition verifying the possible differences in production.
The experience obtained satisfactory results, enabling the farmer to use a previously
unexploited resource for irrigation of its crops, being possible to produce watermelons outside
the harvest, without pesticides and water wastes, indicating that watermelons Were submitted
to treatment with water from pisciculture had higher yields, and the total weight harvested, the
average number of fruits and the average weight per fruit were 66.8%, 40.3% and 21.6%, respectively
than in the treatment using irrigation with water from the supply channel. The fruits
produced were well accepted in the local market and, consequently, an increase in the income
of the farmer.
