The construction of agroecological knowledge: the importance of the activities of the Agroecology Studies Centers in educational institutions

Abstract

This report aims to address the importance of the implantation and the actions of a Nucleus
of Studies in Agroecology (NEA) at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology
Farroupilha (IFFar) - Júlio de Castilhos Campus, located in the central region of the state
Of Rio Grande do Sul. The campus offers in greater emphasis courses related to the area of
Agrarian Sciences, which mainly focus on an aspect of conventional teaching of production,
in this case, the action of the present nucleus is intended to encourage and guide students
Interested in the learning of alternative production systems and agroecological crops in a sustainable
way. In addition, the NEA aims at agroecological research and extension activities in
communities, since the beginning of its activities that began in June 2016.
