Wasps are important predators of several insects, including coffee pests. The objective of this
work was to evaluate the faunistic composition of social wasps in coffee agroecosystem and
adjacent forest fragment. The insects were collected monthly through transparent pet bottle
traps with the attraction of concentrated passion fruit juice. In the field they remained 72 hours,
were distributed in six transects, distant each other 50 meters, beginning in the coffee area
crossing the forest area. In each transect, six traps were installed, three in the forest, and three
in the cafe, distant from each other 30 meters. The species Protonectarina sylveirae, Synoeca
cyanea, Polistes versicolor and Polybia occidentalis were recorded, which are considered
predators of coffee pests. This agroecosystem presented a wealth and abundance a little
larger and diversity a little smaller than the forest fragment, which shows a possible influence
between the areas.
