Abstract

This work characterizes the agroecological transition in the metropolitan region of Manaus,
State of Amazonas, through the main components of the social, economic and environmental
dimensions. The information was collected through the application of forms to farmers who
market their products at the AGROUFAM fair, of the Federal University of Amazonas. The results
indicate that most farmers are at the total conversion level from conventional agriculture
to organic agriculture, but 30% of farmers still use chemical inputs in their farming systems.
The information presented underlies the knowledge about the factors involved in the agroecological
transition of the region, subsidizing the elaboration of strategies to potentiate this
process among farmers still in conventional production.
