Environmental education contributes to training citizens aware of their responsibilities to the
environment. The objective of this exploratory research was to know the perception that the
students attribute to the consumption and the environmental education promoted by the school.
The data were collected through a questionnaire, and analyzed according to the proposal of
Brandalise (2008). One can perceive interest in the issues related to ecological consumption.
The environmental perception registered, in the majority of the questions, great possibility of
possessing ecological conscience. Ecological consumption has resulted in the potential for
ecological awareness. Regarding environmental education in the school, the students suggested
lectures on the themes: reforestation, care and destination of garbage, preservation of
rivers and springs. It is concluded that many challenges are presented to the school, making
it necessary to articulate more practical and dynamic educational actions to work on environmental
issues.
