Sustainability of agroecosystems can be guaranteed by the maintenance of social, environmental
and economic systems. In this regard, NEA / UFSM develops a series of activities with
the goal of strengthening agroecosystems. Among these activities, it is important to highlight
the evaluation of sustainability, performed with a tool called MESMIS, which allows to identify
both favorable and limiting critical points related to the conversion to sustainable agriculture.
Thus, the main critical points assessed through this study were: the lack of interest in Agroecology,
the innovative characteristics of farmers and the diversification of production, agroecological
technical assistance, family succession and a diversification of marketing channels.
