Since 2006, the Projeto de Extensão em Agroecologia Capim Limão has worked in a lot of
community activities supported by Biologic Institute from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Mainly, these activities have been done for farmers and students to teach them about agroecological
concepts and environmental education. Half yearly, new classes have been created
in the Biology course. It has motivated the Capim Limão to promote agroecological activities
during the orientation week. Activities such as sustainable planting, species identification and
herb spiral management. From the activity, some results have been gotten, allowing us to
improve future agroecological practices. Some results showed that a lot of students have enrolled
in the University with no ideas about agroecological concepts. Then, the Capim Limão
suggests that more agroecological groups start to work with the community teaching them
about the topic.
