Abstract

This work was carried out in Redentora, Southern Brazil, aiming to evaluate soil attributes in
PRV with (PRV-T) or without trees (PRV+T), in comparison to a native forest area (NF). There
were three replications of the PRV-T and PRV+T treatments, and three replications in the
Forest Native (FN) area. Soil total organic carbon (TOC), pH, and exchangeable cations (Ca,
Mg, Al, K, H, and Al) were quantified, as well as P. Soil samples were collected at 0-5 cm, 5-10
cm, and 10-20 cm depths. Data were submitted to ANOVA, and when effects were significant,
means were compared by t-LSD at a 5% probability level. The PRV+T had similar performance
to the forest area and improved soil chemical attributes, as compared to PRV-T, with e higher
TOC, P and Ca content.
