Utilization of soya residue and rice straw as substrate for production of jambu seedlings
Keywords:
Alternative substrates, Sphilanthes oleraceae L. organic residueAbstract
The practice of using alternative substrates with fertilizer source for various crops has been
widely used, not only for its effectiveness but also for economic reasons, since it can be easily
found and for a low cost. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate individual and combined industrial
residues as substrates in the production of jambu seedlings. In order to reduce agricultural
input costs for the producer, as well as to use the Material as soybean residue and rice straw.
The evaluated parameters were leaf number, shoot length and root system, shoot diameter,
fresh shoot mass, fresh root system mass, and substrate structure. The results show that there
is a great viability in the use of alternative substrates when compared to the commercial one,
because they present satisfactory answers as to the quality of the produced seedlings.
