Abstract

The present report aims the importance of building an Agroecological vegetable Garden for
educational and food purposes, maintaining interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity. This practice
had as main objective the interaction of academics of the Agronomy higher education of
the State University of Mato Grosso - UNEMAT and students of the State School José Aparecido
Ribeiro, both located in the municipality of Nova Mutum - MT. The vegetable garden
provided a space for the exchange of experience, highlighting questions about the environment
and awakening the students’ capacity for interaction in their creation. Management techniques
have been demonstrated through workshops. The vegetable garden was a sustainable
alternative for the production of healthy foods, besides idealizing the ease and importance of
agroecological production. Within this context, the implementation of the school garden will be
a reference, which can be used as a basis for the implementation of other units in the region.
