The implantation of the Centre of Studies in Agroecology and Organic Production at the Federal Fluminense Institute campus Itaperuna and the contribution to the sustainable development of the northwest region of the state of Rio de Janeiro

This article aims to share the experience of the Centre of Studies in Agroecology and Organic
Production (NEA) of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology campus Itaperuna,
since its conception, creation and development, and the main results that have contributed
to the implementation of educational, researching and extension actions in Agroecology in
the Northwest Fluminense. Supported by resources from the MCTI / MAPA / CNPq Public Call
No. 02/2016, the Centre has a special multidisciplinary character and seeks to contribute to the
process of strengthening the network of Agroecology agents in the region, mainly through the
interactive processes arising from the consulting and Extensionist activities, applied research
in the field of biofertilizers and training and capacity activities.
