This work was carried out with family farmers from Garanhuns, southern agreste of PE, with the
objective of reflecting on actions developed by the Agroecology Nucleus (NEA) and AGROFAMILIAR
Technological Vocational Center (CVT) in combating the use of pesticides as strategies
to support the transition and Agroecological knowledge. From the observation, conversation and
analysis of reports and evaluations, four actions / activities were investigated and reflections were
made on their impact on training, adoption of agroecological practices in agroecosystems and
evaluation of their use as strategies to combat the use of agrochemicals in the region. The thematization
was used to categorize the data and a qualitative evaluation of the results. As a result,
it can be observed that discussing the use of pesticides in workshops and courses in different
situations, including scientific events, has shown to be important as awareness-raising activities,
and that agroecological practices enable farmers to redesign agroecosystems. The discussion
forum has proved to be an effective strategy that generates empowerment of those involved and
encourages participation. Nuclei and CVTs in Agroecology can support processes of local articulation
and stimulate the fight against the use of pesticides as a way of guaranteeing the production
and consumption of healthier foods, besides alerting the population to public and collective health.
