Sustainable alternatives in western Mexico. A proposal of observatory of community practices for the good living
Keywords:
Agroecology, fair trade, peasant knowledgeAbstract
From the eruption of capitalism in the mid-twentieth century and its intensification with the fruits
and vegetables chains in the 21st century, the structural changes in the agriculture in the South
of Jalisco has resulted in a production highly dependent on external inputs and recently, to a
landscape where the green fields now are changed by white plastics. In this context, it is increasingly
difficult to find sustainable agriculture experiences, local trade alternatives or peasant
knowledge. So, since 2013, The Research Center in Territory and Rurality, started a project
called The Observatory of Community Practices for the Good Living. This is a space where the
actors can dialogue about agroecology, fair trade and peasant knowledge.
