Keywords:

This paper reports on the experience of the Seminar on family agricultural production, conducted
by NUPEAS of UFAM, in the city of Humaitá (Amazonas). The event brought together
students, farmers, teachers and professionals from diverse areas to discuss the paths of agroecology
in the Amazon. The farmers had an active voice as speakers and debaters, aiming
at their greater visibility. The main result was the construction of an institutional space for the
debate on family agriculture and agroecology at the university, contributing to the construction
of agroecological knowledge and socio-political strengthening of farmers. The event also
resulted in the participative construction of an open letter to public institutions involved in the
theme, where farmers demand actions aimed at improving health, education, marketing, technical
assistance and rural credit.
