Since its creation, the Agroecology Center for studies of Savannah of Minas Gerais region
(NACEM) has implemented actions that seek to encourage family farmers and communities,
enabling autonomy regarding agroecological and organic production, environmental services,
good production and marketing practices. Initial actions with family farmers led to the emergence
of demands for a valorization of production and a possibility of greater economic returns
for farmers, culminating in the creation of a social control organization (SCO). Thus, this article
aims to report the trajectory of the creation of OSNACEM. Meetings and visits of NACEM
members and participating farmers were carried out within a transitional period in order to
promote actions in the context of agroecological knowledge that provided improvements and
changed the farming practices of family farmers. These actions made possible the valorization
and commercialization of healthier products and produced with social and environmental responsibility.
