The production of seedlings contributes to the success of the forest activity, since the quality of
the future tree depends on how the seedlings were conducted. In view of this, the objective of
the work was to provide practical knowledge in seedling production systems of native and fruit
forest species. The work was developed at the Federal University of Paraíba, located in the city
of Areia - PB. Seeds were collected from the city itself of several species that were under the
trees (on the ground) and in their crown. Some seeds were sown to germinate at appropriate
times and transplanted, and others planted directly in the polyethylene plastic bags, with the
soil sieved. This practice has generated an exchange of experiences with the workers of the
nursery of the UFPB and with the participants of the project, with the intention of disseminating
this knowledge and seedlings to the family farmers, besides being a practice that provides
ecological, social and economic benefits.
