Abstract

The training of young people in rural areas has always been a difficult task. Most rural communities
do not have schools with specific education for the reality of the countryside. The pedagogy
of alternation through the Alternation Training Centers (CEFAs) has filled this gap. In this
system, the young people alternate periods of study in the school with periods of learning in
the family space. The objective of this article is to report on the experience of monitoring the
elaboration of the Professional Life Project of the Youth (PPVJ) and how agroecological knowledge
is inserted in these projects. The monitoring was carried out in the Rural Family House of
the municipality of Zé Doca - MA, in November 2016 to March 2017. 16 PPVJs were elaborated
in the areas of olericulture, fruit growing, fish farming and cattle breeding. The PPVJs had as
objectives the production of foods based on sustainable practices, reaffirming the importance
of the alternating method for the construction of agroecological knowledge.
