Abstract

The main concerns of the population residing in rural areas is basic sanitation, this can affect
the health of the local residents. Based on this problem, the Center for Research and Extension
in Environment, Socioeconomics and Agroecology - NUPEAS developed this work in the
São Settlement Project with the aim of showing the importance of this system to the residents,
aiming to reduce the environmental impacts arising from the implementation of the Septic
tank in their homes. Farmers who participated in the implementation of the system at the headquarters
of the community association reported that they will implement the system in their
residences and thus will be destining the waste from the toilet without compromising the environment
where they live, with these reports it can be concluded that the objective Of work with
the settlement was reached, and may contribute to a better quality of life for rural populations.
