Abstract

The penetration resistance (PR) associated with bulk density and water content provides useful
assessments for monitoring soil under different agroecosystems. Models can be appropriately
accepted for a more accurate estimation of PR in order to increase agricultural production
in these systems. The PR values that limit crop growth have been postulated in the literature. In
order to test and indicated a model for the PR quantification, this study monitoring three different
management systems (fallow, pasture and corn) in a rural farm of the city Pelotas, RS, state.
The current management presupposes initial principles transition to ecological agriculture.
It was concluded that the presented model can be appropriately accepted for the estimation of
PR in soil under agricultural ecosystems that present different bulk densities and water content
aiming at the proximity with the implementation of an environmentally sustainable agriculture.
