Abstract

The goal of this study is to develop a methodological approach that allows understanding and
interpretation, with a qualitative and local perspective, the social, economic, political and ecological
vulnerabilities related to Food Insecurity in the rural communities of the Vale de Cusco,
Peru. This document focuses on qualitative research and the community scale. The proposal
consists of evaluating these vulnerabilities through indicators, within the five dimensions of
Food and Nutrition Security proposed by the Peruvian government - Availability, Accessibility,
Utilization, Stability and Institutionality. This work was carried out from April to December of
2016 and was part of a field research for the course in Agroecology offered by the University
of Córdoba. Through a bibliographical review, important information was gathered on Vulnerability
to Food Insecurity from an integral perspective.
