Semi-arid Agroecology Centre

The Semi-arid Agroecology Centre was established in Embrapa Semiarid in 2014. Its main
objective is to mobilize interdisciplinary teams and to establish partnerships with universities,
rural extension institutions and family farmers to promote actions for the exchange and construction
of agroecological knowledge with a territorial approach. Its actions are closely related
to the training of young farmers of the Escola Familia Agrícola de Sobradinho/BA, rural
extension institutions and public institutions for teaching, research and extension. These actions
are focus on agrobiodiversity, socio-biodiversity, agroforestry systems and redesign of
agro-ecosystems, interrelating and applying the foundations of Agroecology for Living with the
Semi-Arid. In this sense, the objective of the present report is to present the actions developed
by the aforementioned Centre during 2014 and 2017 in the Territories of the Sertão do São
Francisco, Bahia and Pernambuco.
