Abstract

The maintenance and efficiency of a family production system requires the construction of
reliable indicators. The objective of this study was to evaluate, through indicators, the sustainability
of the different productive systems existing in the settlement Ximenes, Barreiros - PE.
The systems were classified in agroforestry, horticulture, fruticulture, pasture, consortium, monoculture
and livestock systems. Two attributes, five descriptors and ten indicators were used.
For each indicator a note was assigned varying from 1 to 5. Smaller notes represent the most
fragile systems. Six systems presented the maximum score of 5.0 for the production diversification
indicator. For the production channels, all presented the note 2.0. The shortage of labor
in the families obtained the grade 1.0. The low youth presence was verified in the SP1, SP2,
SP4, SP5 and SP7 systems. In relation to agricultural income, only five systems presented the
maximum score of 5.0, the others ranged between 1.0 and 3.0.
