Construction of agroforestry system arrangements in Benedito Alves Bandeira settlement, Acará-PA

Abstract

The present report aims to bring the experience of the PROSAF project carried out through the
Forest Development and Biodiversity Institute of Pará (IDEFLOR-BIO) in partnership with the
Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará (IFPA) Campus Castanhal, for of the
Center for Studies in Education and Agroecology of the Amazon (NEA). The project is being
carried out in the Benedito Alves Bandeira Settlement (BAB) and aims to bring new concepts
of agriculture based on the principles of agroecology with the adoption of Agroforestry Systems
(SAF’s), being built mainly with the application of mini-courses (theoretical and practical training)
On SAF’s, guaranteeing the dialogue between technicians and farmers, combining traditional
knowledge and scientific knowledge. As result of this process are the abandonment of practices
that degrade the soil and the environment (overturns and burns) and strengthening sustainable
family farming in the BAB (settlement) built in a participatory manner and with the farmer.
