Learning Unit: space for exchanges and construction of agroecological knowledge within the scope of the Brazil Without Poverty Plan, in the Alto Sertão Sergipano Territory

The agroecology is a means of recognizing local knowledge and promotes the dialogue of
knowhow. This work, carried out by Embrapa Tabuleiros Costeiros, in partnership with the Articulação
do Semiárido de Sergipe (ASA-SE), describes the installation of Learning Units (UAs)
in agroecosystems benefited from social technologies of water Abstraction and storage, in
order to improve food security of smallholders farmers benefited with the Brasil Without Misery
Plan (PBSM), in the territory of Alto Sertão Sergipano, from 2014 to 2016. Integrated systems
for raising hens with an agroecological vegetable garden were installed in the UAs as a strategy
to strengthen the family agroecosystems, using participatory techniques. Knowledge was
generated adapted to the reality of the families, allowing the exchange and the generation of
new knowledge about the agroecological systems of production, the rescue and the strengthening
of the know how utilized on hen farming.
