Experience Report with Green Fertilizer Consortiums in Rio Pomba Rural Properties

Abstract

Through the Network of Agroecology and Solidarity Economy “Mãos à Horta”, working in Rio
Pomba-MG, farmers in agro-ecological transition were contacted, in order to introduce green
manuring techniques in theirs properties. Some experiments with green manures, were offered,
given all the benefits of using these species. With the participation of students with scholarships
of the project “Multiplication, conservation and distribution of green fertilizer species
and their insertion in agroecosystems with corn and beans in the family farming of agroecological
basis”, of the IF Sudeste MG, with financial support from CNPq and with farmers who
accepted to the proposal, some consortia were installed in their properties for the participatory
evaluation of the results. These consortia made it possible for farmers to create ecological
ways to improve the soil and their crops. Some species have been reproduced in the properties
for the production of seeds for their conservation and multiplication.
