The objective of the present investigation was to supplement with different ratios of alfalfa (Medicago
sativa L.) dehydrated the different agricultural substrates most used in the production
of oyster mushroom from the Municipality of Tetela de Ocampo, Puebla-Mexico. We studied
12 treatments and one control for each agricultural substrate used, with 5 experimental replicates,
in an experimental design of random blocks with a total of 85 production units. The best
combination for the production of oyster mushroom wheat straw supplemented with 3 kg of
dehydrated alfalfa with 17.940 g, the treatment that obtained the lowest production was “Alfalfa
dehydrated” with a weight of 3,512.50 g. The lowest biological efficiency (EB) is the unsupported
bean straw residue with 46.84%, the most abundant substrate is “corn stubble” and had an
increase of its (EB) of 64.30 to 120.91% with a supplement of 3 kg of Alfalfa and a biodegradation
rate of 64%. The use of alfalfa as a supplement in substrates increases production under
controlled conditions.
