Abstract

The agroforestry systems are presented as a low-impact alternative to the environmental problems
in the Amazon. The objective was to study the floristic and phytosociology of an agroforestry
system of agroecological base, In Cacoal, Rondônia. In 0.64 ha all the arboreal components
with diameter at breast height greater or equal to 5 cm were sampled. After botanical
identification, dendrometric characteristics survey and collection of botanical material, the horizontal,
vertical, diametrical structure and the floristic composition of the system were analyzed.
There was obtained 271 individuals, 263 are distributed in 16 families and 20 species.
The Lamiaceae family had the largest number of individuals. Tectona grandis L. f., Mezilaurus
itauba (Meisn.) Taub. ex Mez. and Swietenia macrophylla King were the most representative in
the horizontal structure. The diametric structure showed an inverted J pattern and the majority
of individuals are between 7 and 14 meters in height.
